A huge black-hulled ship with an anchor on its bow pushes through choppy water between two raised drawbridge leaves. The heavy blackletter around it delivers the punchline: That’s a very large excuse for being late. Anyone who has sat at an open bridge watching a freighter crawl past knows the feeling.
