Description
Heavily inked cream-blackletter arches the words ‘BETWEEN HEAVY SETS’ above and below a central barbell, bringing weight room discipline into gothic script. The bar’s detailed ribbing, weight plates, and sharply rendered weightlifting belt anchor the scene. Rose vines coil in strict balance around the woodblock stacks, their thorns and petals densely etched in the same engraving style.
Small stars punctuate the upper corners, their points crisp against the solid grey background. Below the composition, a thorn-wrapped banner draws the eye to ‘REST IS PART OF TRAINING’, the only line set in straight block capitals. Negative space along the bar and between the paired vines spreads out among the dense artwork.
The print leans into a traditional woodcut look, with crosshatched shadows and layered stippling giving real density.
