Design story & product details
White counters and the breathing room between stacked lines give the dense message a little release. On the Heavyweight Unisex Crewneck T-shirt, the design gathers its words into a tall, poster-like arrangement, with stop at the top and spirit returning as a broad lower tier. The lettering asks for thought to give way to the Holy Spirit’s inspiration, while thin ochre rules hold the tiers apart.
One small interruption changes the rhythm: the word The appears in slanted ochre script, edged in black and ringed by a fan of fine rays. Ochre four-point stars punctuate the surrounding lines, and longer stars are placed inside the O forms in stop and holy. The inward curl of the S letters gives the rigid serif block a quiet pull toward its middle.
Heavy uppercase serifs are built with ivory faces, narrow ochre inset strokes, black outlines and offset black shadows. Grayish scuffs break up the pale interiors without filling the counters. Radiating strokes extend into the outer gaps, while the final T in spirit leaves the baseline in a broad curved flourish that carries the lower word outward.
