A crowded arrangement of beams and brackets makes the upward view from beneath these palace eaves unexpectedly intricate. Regular diagonal rafters painted a deep teal-green form a repeating pattern, each one capped with a rounded medallion—within it, a five-petaled orange flower rises from a yellow center, then radiates with concentric rings of mustard, red, blue, and cream.
