Design story & product details
White space keeps the curved banknotes, loose gold dots and scattered stars from closing in on the bear, even as the face and its message press tightly together. The Heavy Blend Unisex Crewneck Sweatshirt carries a large gray head built from dense cream and charcoal strokes, with a pale muzzle divided beneath a glossy black nose. Five-point gold stars cover the eyes, and the gold streams beneath them do not stop at the cheeks: each finishes in a long, rounded drop.
The lettering gives the illustration its satirical tension. Don’t Cry is rendered in large serif capitals with yellow light, amber depth and dark edging; a few characters spill into gold drips. Beneath it, Rich Tears and Poor Laughs are spaced in a thinner serif, interrupted by pointed stars and framed by fine horizontal gold ornaments. The banknotes arc outward around the head, while the white breaks between motifs keep their edges distinct. Gold dots punctuate the open field. The tears are ornamental and exaggerated, yet the split between rich tears and poor laughs makes the joke plain.
