Design story & product details
The cream horse’s rump is the largest shape here, a broad rounded form seen from behind that fills the lower left of the artwork. Beside it stands a rust-orange horse, slimmer and set a little further back, and the two have crossed necks so that each head lies on the other’s body.
The rust head, with a pale blaze running down its face, rests on the cream shoulder at the upper left. The cream head comes to rest on the rust back, its eye half closed and its muzzle shaded grey at the nostril.
Manes and tails are dark plum, drawn as thick wavy locks with thin cream and tan slivers cut through them to separate the strands. The same plum makes an even outline around every form, and short hatched strokes follow the curve of each haunch and hock to show muscle. On the heavyweight crewneck t-shirt the two tails fall almost to the hooves, and a third sweep of dark hair hangs down past the cream horse’s left flank, so the pale body is bracketed by plum on both sides. The cream horse has one hind hoof tipped onto its toe, the way a horse stands when it is resting.
It suits riders, stable hands and anyone who wants to give a horse person something quieter than a galloping stallion.
