Admiral Yi Sun-sin Collection
Admiral Yi Sun-sin (1545-1598) is Korea’s most celebrated naval commander. In the Imjin War he never lost a sea battle; at Myeongnyang in 1597 he held the strait with 13 ships against a fleet of more than 130, using the narrow channel and its fierce tidal currents. His armoured turtle ships, his war diary Nanjung Ilgi and his final words at the Battle of Noryang – “Do not announce my death” – are part of every Korean childhood. This collection turns that history into wearable art: realistic sketches of the admiral, the turtle ship and the battles, and typography built from his own words in Korean and English. Every piece is printed to order, and two or more items ship free.
