Design story & product details
Slanted yellow, black-edged WHO NEEDS lettering opens the composition, followed by coral-red TRAVEL in an oversized italic treatment. Dark horizontal bands cut through the lower letterforms, giving the words a screened transit-poster tension. On the Heavyweight Unisex Crewneck T-shirt, the scale of the lettering leaves the train’s front end pressing in from the right instead of turning the image into a flat type layout.
Cream smoke clouds, shaded pale blue-green, fold through the space behind the type and locomotive. The engine is shown head-on, with cream edge marks, orange piping, rivets, and a small clock face high on its nose; its orange-red slatted cowcatcher brings the brightest mechanical detail. Opposite it, a long-haired figure in a cream-and-brown hat reaches toward the engine, her pleated dress scattered with yellow flowers. The three dense text lines reproduce a station passage about commuters, tunnels, platforms, walkways, and trains traveling beyond the city.
