"Put The Chairs Closer" Heavy Blend Unisex Pullover Hoodie

A round wooden table, seen from above and slightly to one side, fills most of the Put The Chairs Closer artwork on this pullover hoodie. Eight chairs crowd its rim and they come from at least four different sets: two red spindle-backs, three navy ones, a brown ladder-back, a brown cross-back and a squat turned-spindle chair in lighter wood. The table is laid for six, with cream plates rimmed in blue, each on a red-striped napkin, and in the middle a blue-banded bowl of stew with a wooden spoon left in it. A loaf has already been torn open on its board, and the crumbs have scattered onto the wood beside a small dish of salt.

The lettering leans in from the upper right in chunky cream slab capitals with a heavy brown outline, and four short dashes fan out below it as if someone had just called it across the room. Eight chairs for six plates is the small arithmetic of the drawing; somebody is expected who was not counted. A denim jacket with a fleece collar hangs off the rush-seat chair, one sleeve trailing low, so at least one guest is already in. The hatching is fine and dark, like an old engraving coloured in afterward. It suits the person who always finds room for one more, and it makes a good gift for whoever hosts the holidays.
