"Sparrow at the Dinosaur Footprint" Heavy Blend Unisex Crewneck Sweatshirt

Ochre and navy do nearly all the work here: a dry, sandy rim in cream and ochre, speckled with dark stippling and split by crack lines, closes around a pool of deep navy and mid blue. The whole shape is a three-toed footprint seen from above, one long pointed toe at the top and two shorter ones splayed left and right, the kind of track a dinosaur leaves in mud that later turns to stone.

Rain has filled it. Pale cream clouds drift across the lower half of the water, and the three toe hollows stay almost solid navy where the sky does not reach.

On the left ridge a small sparrow with a chestnut cap, streaked brown and black wings and a pale belly leans down to drink. Its beak touches the surface and sends out a few thin rings, its yellow feet grip the edge, and its dark reflection lies directly beneath it, wing bars and all. Small ochre pebbles gather along the waterline, thickest at the lower left, and on a crewneck sweatshirt the irregular outline reads as one broken piece of ground carrying its own weather.

It suits birdwatchers, fossil hunters and anyone who likes the idea of a very large animal making room for a very small one.
