Design story & product details
Cream stone and rusted copper carry the whole drawing, and they work the way old masonry and a weathered downpipe do: one pale and chalky, the other warm and slightly corroded. The stone is the canopy of an open umbrella, tipped to the upper right, banded with wavy grey strata and pitted like limestone that has stood outside for a century.
FORECASTS arches over the top in tall, heavy serif capitals, each letter outlined in black and filled with fine engraved hatching so it reads as carved relief. The final S slips lower than its neighbours, dropping onto the side where the canopy has buckled into stacked accordion folds.
Under it, on a narrow curved band of stone, the complaint finishes in small solid capitals: HAVE BETRAYED ME. The full stop is there, and it does a lot of the work.
Thin copper ribs fan out from a ringed hub, every one tipped with a round bead, and a few cracks run through the stone between the letters. The mottled shaft travels down and to the left to a J-shaped hook, which leaves the lower part of the artwork open and gives the heavy crewneck sweatshirt a top-weighted, slightly lopsided front that suits the joke. It is a good one to wear on the grey days the weather app swore would be dry, or to hand to the friend who always gets caught out without a coat.
