Description
The phrase ‘L’eau décide’ is embroidered across the front of a classic dad hat, using bold serif letters in deep blue. Each letter of the phrase, which translates from French as ‘the water decides’, is rendered with thick, traditional lines and rounded terminals that give the text a strong, familiar presence.
A sky blue ribbon, shaped as a smooth wave, moves through the wording itself. The wave passes both above and below different parts of the letters, never breaking its flow, and interacts gently with the serif structure.
At the wavy ribbon’s ends—by the ‘L’ and at the final ‘e’—three light blue, teardrop-shaped splashes add a sense of movement and finish. These splashes are spaced to leave only the corners open, while the central composition stays compact and close.
The phrase is set on a gentle upward curve, so the embroidery sits slightly arched on the hat. The way the elements nestle together means the only open spots occur around the water splashes, lending a sense of balance to the overall arrangement.
